Mr. Tanvir Shahriar received his B.Sc. degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Islamic University of Technology (IUT), a subsidiary organ of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). He was awarded the IUT GOLD MEDAL-2018 in recognition of his notable academic performance (1st position in his class) and meritorious signature at every academic activity. Currently, he is serving the Islamic University of Technology (IUT) as a Lecturer in the Department of Mechanical and Production Engineering (MPE) and pursuing his M.Sc. here as well. 

In addition to his academic qualifications, he is a very enthusiastic researcher. As part of his undergraduate thesis, he had conducted a mathematical feasibility study about the implementation of a particular Ocean Wave Energy Converter in Saint Martin's Island, Bangladesh with a view to mitigating the local power demand. He has a journal publication from this work that has been published in the journal Ocean Engineering.

His major research interests include Ocean Renewable Energy, Ocean Systems Engineering, Ocean and Coastal Wave Phenomena, Wave-structure Interaction, Coastal and Offshore Hydrodynamics, Computational Fluid Dynamics, Energy System Analysis and Design, Energy Policy, Power Plant Engineering.
